Home

The house you live in is a building decision.

Materials, air, moisture and maintenance decide how a home behaves over decades. This is where Christopher L. Penn's healthy-home work lives — the companies, the materials and the writing behind it.

A healthy home is not a product you buy once. It is the accumulation of choices — what the walls are made of, how moisture moves, what finishes off-gas, how the building breathes, and what gets replaced during a renovation.

Christopher L. Penn approaches those choices from the construction side first. Through Mr Hemp House® and the GaiaCrete® hemp-lime composite, the work is about bio-based wall assemblies designed for thermal performance, fire resistance and moisture regulation — with performance depending on the specific assembly, climate zone and installation.

Home Health Scan™ and the Home Health Score™

Home Health Scan™ is the assessment side of the same problem: helping a homeowner understand the products, materials and conditions already in their house, in plain language.

Home Health Score™ is a 0–100 rating designed to help homeowners understand conditions within their home and prioritize areas for further evaluation or improvement. It is part of the broader Home Health Scan™ and Mr Hemp House® healthy-home ecosystem.

The Home Health Score™ is an informational building and home-condition assessment tool. It is not a medical diagnosis, medical test, or guarantee of health outcomes.

How is it different from a medical score?

A Home Health Score™ describes the building, not the people in it. It looks at conditions and materials a homeowner can act on — ventilation, moisture, finishes, age of systems — and helps prioritize what to evaluate next. It does not diagnose, test for, or predict any medical condition.

Where it fits in the healthy-home journey

Assessment comes first, then prioritization, then the build. Home Health Scan™ identifies what is worth attention; Mr Hemp House® and GaiaCrete® address the material and assembly side when a renovation or new build follows.
